After 60 years in the retail automotive business, Flow Companies continues to be defined by three simple principles:

1

A covenant with our customers to be a place that keeps its promises and is worthy of their trust.

2

A community of people who work together towards a common vision.

3

A commitment to work towards the common good of every city where we do business.

Although we have grown much larger over the years, these are the governing commitments that guide everything that we do. They are deeply woven into the fabric of our company. They are how we measure our success.

Our History

We started in 1957 with a pre-owned center that offered fully reconditioned cars that carried a warranty. We sold cars that could be trusted and our sales grew enormously.

In 1961, we became a Volkswagen dealer in Winston-Salem, NC.

In 1973, we started representing this new company called Honda, which had just started building the Civic.

In 1983, we purchased BMW and that began a string of acquisitions that have brought us to our present size.

We entered the Greensboro, NC market in 1986, where we currently operate Audi, Buick-GMC, Land Rover, Mazda, Jaguar and Volkswagen stores.

In 2002, we moved into Fayetteville, NC where we now operate Buick-GMC and Mazda stores. We also introduced the MINI brand expanding our Winston-Salem, NC footprint as the first MINI dealer in North Carolina.

We entered the Charlottesville, VA market in 2003 and represent Audi, Mazda, Porsche and Volkswagen.

After the successful launch of the MINI brand in Winston-Salem, NC we added a second location in Raleigh, NC.

We expanded to Statesville, NC in 2013 with Honda and later expanded to include Toyota.

In 2014, we ventured into Burlington, NC and now operate Honda, Subaru, Volvo and Volkswagen franchises.

We returned to Wilmington, NC with Flow Volkswagen of Wilmington. 2016 also saw the introduction of the new revolutionary vehicle subscription service Drive Flow.

For 2018 we expanded operations in Wilmington, NC adding the Acura brand. In Fayetteville, NC the Nissan brand once again became a dealership in the Flow family.
